In some scenarios we provide you with coverage for the loss of cash, bank notes, currency notes or postal orders. Note that we only provide cover for this benefit under our Comprehensive, Annual Multi Trip, and Already Overseas policies. Read more about what to do if you get robbed here. 

What's Covered?
  • Cash, bank notes, currency notes, postal orders, or money orders stolen from your person during your journey. Up to $250 value.
  • Incidents that are reported. You must report a theft within 24 hours of when the incident occurs and you need a written statement from an authority, such as the police.

what's not covered?
  • If the cash wasn't on your person. If the cash, bank notes, currency notes, postal orders, or money orders were not on your person at the time they were stolen, we can't cover it. 
  • Unreported incidents. Make sure you report the incident. We will not pay if you do not report the theft within 24 hours to the police. We will not pay if you cannot provide 1Cover with a written statement from the police.

  • Amounts over $250.

  • What Can I Do To Protect My Property Whilst Travelling?
  • Always keep your valuables on your person and carry as little cash as possible. Always keep your bags locked and zipped shut in when in use, and never leave bags or valuables unattended. 

    1Cover are unable to provide cover for unattended luggage and personal belongings.

    Unattended means, but is not limited to, an item that is not on your person at the time of loss, left with a person other than your relative or travelling companion, left in a position where it can be taken without your knowledge including on the beach or beside the pool when you swim, or leaving it at a distance where you are unable to prevent it from being unlawfully taken.   • What do I need to provide when claiming for theft of cash?
  • Make sure that you report any theft to the police or relevant authority within 24 hours of the incident and submit your claim with a written statement from whoever you reported it to.

  • Do you cover cash that is stolen from my room?
  • Theft of cash benefit applies if money is stolen from your person during an overseas journey it does not extend to cover cash left elsewhere. Please see the PDS for full details.
