If you purchase a Comprehensive or Frequent Traveller policy, cover under the Cancellation Fees and Lost Deposits benefit begins on the date your policy is issued. This provides cover for unforeseen events that may cause the cancellation of your trip. All other coverage will begin on the departure date you set.
If you purchase the Already Overseas policy, there is no cover under any section of the policy for 72 hours from the issue date shown on the policy. This means there this no cover arising from events that happen within this 72-hour period.
