Can I Purchase Extra Cover For A Precious Item?

There’s always a risk of losing items when you travel.

Our Comprehensive and Domestic policies have a ‘Luggage & Personal Effects’* section, and that means any personal items owned by you and that you take with you or buy on your journey.

Luggage & personal effects are covered under all plans except for Medical Only, but individual limits apply to each item as per the table below.

If you have precious items that you’d like to insure for a higher limit, we have the option for you to specify high value items up to $5,000. However, high value items have to be less than 12 months old and exclude drones, jewellery, bicycles, watches and watercraft (other than surfboards).

See the PDS for more details.

*Luggage & Personal Effects means any personal items owned by you that you take with you or buy on your journey, and which are designed to be worn or carried about with you. This includes items of clothing, medical aids, personal jewellery, personal laptops/tablets, photographic and video equipment, and portable equipment. However, it does not mean any bank notes, cash, cheques, currency notes, money orders, negotiable instruments, postal orders, bicycles, business samples or items that you intend to trade, drones, passports, transaction cards, or winter sports equipment
